Press HERE to see the BUS terminal to school. Note that the Victoria House is right where VICTORIA is written on the map on the left.

The Vic House is 15 blocks, or 1.5 miles from the campus. However it is 4 blocks from the main bus terminal, and only 1 block to the Line 3 bus stop heading to the main terminal. Line 3 runs every 20 minutes. This 4 block walk ( or 1 block walk ) puts the student still within minutes of arriving at SBCC. The student ID is a free bus pass for the semester. With lines 4, 5, 15 and 16 all going directly up to SBCC, there is virtually a bus every 10-12 minutes to campus.

The ride from the Transit Center to SBCC is posted as a 10 minute ride. So if a student sets his watch and leaves home correctly, the trip to campus is 20 minutes from the house door to campus.

One fine feature of the Victoria location is being right downtown. There is a Vons 2 blocks away, a pool hall 3 blocks going toward the bus terminal and State Street itself is 3 blocks away, the very main street of SB. There you find many restaurants, both fast and formal, including a Mac Donalds 3.5 blocks from the house. Also, neighborhoods actually improve as you travel away from SBCC, so the Victoria House is in a good area of classic craftsman cottages in a pride of neighborhood location.

Victoria is street parking only and there is very little yard. Just enough for surfboards, bikes and the laundry machines. Bringing a car is allowed, but I'm seeing parking in that area to be very tight. Standard to park 1 to 2 blocks away would be common. And there is the weekly street sweeping where you have to be careful which side of the street you are parking on for which day. With this downtown location for fun and services, and the easy bus ride to campus, we recommend skipping the car the first year. It will be more in the way and is useless to take to campus. At about 1.5 miles, this is a great bike ride distance to school in 10-12 minutes.
